For years, I have maintained two open public archives of internal Islamic State documents: the first one being on my original website and then subsequently on ‘Islamic State Archives’ in collaboration with Jihadology. The latter project in particular was dependent on voluntary donations to continue. However, by experience, it has become apparent to me that one generally does not pay for desirable content unless one has to pay for it. Accordingly, I have decided to move all subsequent postings of Islamic State documents (of which there are still a huge number to come) to this second Substack publication of mine, which follows on from the success of my first Substack: “Aymenn’s Monstrous Publications,” the successor to my blog on my original website. Given that there are still thousands of pages of documents to post, it makes sense to keep these archives as a companion to my original Substack publication.
However, this companion publication will not only archive my Islamic State documents, but also other internal documents found in Syria and digitised over the years. These documents are primarily internal Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) administrative documents that were found in places from which the SDF was driven out by Turkish-backed Syrian rebels (mostly Afrin and Tel Abyad). Preservation of these documents in archival form is as important for the historical record as preservation of Islamic State documents.
